From Gagosian Gallery. A look into artist and photographer Richard Prince’s (b. 1949) private library and his influences, published on the occasion of an exhibition of 20th-century rare books and ephemera at the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris. Literary excerpts complement illustrations of artworks, showing the influence of the texts and Prince’s book collection, including rare volumes such as Naked Lunch, Jack Kerouac's rolled manuscript for Big Sur, and editions of Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita in several languages. American Prayer reveals the source for many of Prince’s well-known series and includes texts ranging from one-sentence quips to longer excerpts.

Beautiful as an object and impossible to put down as a read. And while I love my library, it made me wish I also could spend a few days in Richard Prince’s library from time to time.
