Livraria Freebook

Social columnist Joyce Pascowitch describes Brazil's Livraria Freebook thus: “The hiding-place. 1924, the number of Consolação Street. Between the cemetery and a huge store of chandeliers hides a secret kept by decorators, photographers, publicists and chefs in the know: that is where Freebook is located, a bookstore specializing in imported books about fashion, decoration, photography, cooking. We like beautiful books, says Manuel Dias Teixeira Neto, the friendly owner of the bookstore, known as Petit. Just ring the bell of the small purple building and be received by Petit, who always has valuable tips.”
