Vincent Van Duysen

Architect; Interior Designer; Product/Industrial Designer; Lighting Designer / Belgium / Vincent Van Duysen Architects

Vincent Van Duysen was born 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium. He attended the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Ghent and worked in Milan in the 1980s together with fashion and interior designer Cinzia Ruggeri and Memphis co-founder Aldo Cibic before founding his own design studio in Antwerp in 1990.

Van Duysen’s use of pure and tactile materials results in clear and timeless designs. His approach is one in which the senses and the physical experience of space, materials, and light place the integrity of the user at its core. Functionality, durability, and comfort are the prime components of his work. Vincent Van Duysen Architects, an international team of 20 collaborators, has a diverse portfolio that includes projects for residential, office, and commercial spaces in Belgium and other European countries, the United States, and the Middle East, and product designs for such leading manufacturers as B&B Italia, Poliform, and Swarovski.

Van Duysen’s work has been published and exhibited worldwide. The first monograph on his work was published in 2001 by Gustavo Gili; and a second was published in 2010 by Thames & Hudson.
