Jens Martin Skibsted’s Book List

I like philosophy books that satisfy my curiosity. I’ve read very little fiction lately because there is so much I want to know. When I read fiction I am truly on holiday. I thought I would become a poet when I was young. (I did publish some poetry, but it’s all in Danish.)

Paul Feyerabend

Convincing anarchist approach to epistemology.

Charlotte Fiell
Peter Fiell

I love all the books the Fiells made for TASCHEN and now for their own publishing house. I actually discussed doing a book on bicycles with them, but I stuck to making bicycles (see 100 Best Bikes).

Douglas B. Holt

I don’t totally agree that products are just cultural artifacts, but I agree that they are cultural artifacts. Best post-millennium book on branding.

Zahid Sardar

I wanted to do this book for many years. I made bicycles instead. I gave Zahid Sardar the idea for the book at a dinner party at my apartment during Copenhagen Design Week and the INDEX Awards in 2009.

Gilles Deleuze
Félix Guattari

A deeply visionary book to be read with attention to its introduction, “Rhizome,” and in conjunction with its companion volume, Anti-Oedipus. A precursor to a lot of the later digital network thinking. I feel like I never fully understood these books. But they have always inspired and intrigued me.
