Alexander Haldemann

Alexander Haldemann is the CEO of MetaDesign, an award-winning brand and design firm that has created brand-design systems for clients including Apple, Adobe, Current.TV, Nike, Sony, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and Samsung. In 2009, he moved to the United States from Europe to head the San Francisco office of MetaDesign and has overseen branding and design programs for some of the world’s most recognized brands. MetaDesign San Francisco has been recognized with awards from ReBRAND 100, Communication Arts, D&AD, and Creativity.

Prior to his current position, Haldemann led the Zurich office of MetaDesign for over ten years. Specializing in brand strategy, he guided major rebranding initiatives for Fortune Global 500 companies in the financial industry and the industrial and travel/ lifestyle sectors. In 2009 he oversaw the merger of two iconic European companies into a new brand, Alpiq, reported to be the biggest electricity deal in Swiss history.

Haldemann lectures on brand strategy, brand design, brand reputation and management, and communication strategy for business schools and industry groups around the world, including the Thought Leaders International Conference in Brand Management and the International Advertising Association. He holds a Ph.D. in economics and political science from the University of Zurich and an MBA in International Management from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. His work for clients has won several awards, including ReBRAND 100, the EF Communication Design Award, the Red Dot Award, and the Best of Corporate Publishing Award.
